October stuff
One of Chad's bday presents was his favorite cereal lucky charms. We heard a rat chipping away at something in the other room and found that shea really wanted them also. The bag was drowning in slobber.
For the kid class we teach at church we made hand puppets and named them Pablo and Pete (those were the first names that came to my mind). Shea loved them and now walks around the house with her sock on her hand talking and calling it Pablo.
Cade was so proud of the pumpkin he personally picked out and the finished product. He found that he didn't like to touch any part of it though after all the hype and was reduced to putting it on his legs for the picture instead and letting the rest of us do the dirty work.
Braden's first project. a report on an insect and then the making of one out of household items. I promised myself when i was younger that i would let my kids do their projects alone to use their own creativity but the frustration was too much and I ended up helping, at least its mostly his work. If you can't tell its a praying mantis made out of a plastic flute, zip ties, and styrofoam plates.
Cade pretending to be his daddy at the work site....

Shark Tooth Hunting
We took a trip to Chesapeake Bay Maryland where you can find 6-20 million year old shark teeth fossils on the beach. We had a blast and even though the air was cold, the water was surprisingly warm.
Sifting through the sand and rock for teeth.
These were our finds.
For Family Night we made the tooth of their choice into a necklace for them. This is Braden's, its an extinct Mako shark tooth.
This is cade's, a Bull shark tooth.

Labor Day Weekend
There is supposed to be really good fishing ponds all over DE like this one and so we spent a couple days trying them out with our new gear. The boys had a blast and Chad spent the whole time doing the dad thing and untangling, unhooking, and fixing poles.
Shea was not a fan of fishing and spent most of the time doing the chick thing and eating snacks. The worms apparently were the most disgusting thing she had ever seen.
The fish were small little bass and sun fish but they didn't care, as long as they caught a lot of them.
We took a fun little train ride on an old track and it dropped you off half way to eat lunch at a spot with a stream and then back.
The scariest part about the trip was Braden stepped on a wasp hive and we didn't realize until we saw him on the ground with hundreds of wasps attacking him and he was screaming. Chad ran and grabbed him and got them all off and I ran the other two kids away but not before braden had about 10-15 stings, chad had 10 stings and I got away with only 1. Poor kid, at least he's not allergic, he just came away with a life time phobia of wasps.

" Apple Farm" and Delaware Weather
We went to the " Apple Farm" where you go on a tractor pulled hayride to different orchards and pick the fruit you want. It was so good, but this is only half the fruit we got, the kids got to the rest of it before i could even get a pic.
They also had a really cool play place there for the kids with castles and ships made out of wood with poles to slide down, etc..

I included this video because I thought it was funny. I have an app on my phone that you talk into and a little hamster speaks what you say back. Shea will talk to it forever, and she thinks its hilarious no matter how many times she does it.

Delaware Museum of Natural History
This was a small museum we went to. It had real dinosaur bones which was pretty cool and an obvious favorite of the boys.
Pretty much the rest of the day Braden and Cade pretended they were raptors, by the tenth time they tried to "kill me" with their razor sharp claws I made them turn back into boys or else I was going to turn into something deadly.
They had lots of real stuffed animals and interactive screens for them to learn about everything.
They had a laughing fit when i told them that this was a dung beetle and what it pushed was really made of poop. They laughed even harder when Shea started touching it.... boys..
They even had a big screen that showed animal movies.
I had to include a couple pictures of what is different here than in cali. I've never seen a rite aid like this, and all the stores are the same with the red brick and colonial detail.
These are ALL over the place, it is their version of an ampm. A " Wawa"..... seriously, i get ampm, but a wawa? what does that even mean???
Anyways, still having fun doing new stuff and meeting some new people.
